3 injured in Ottawa County crash with distracted driver, police say
HOLLAND, MI -- Three people were injured in a crash Wednesday evening after police say a distracted driver crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, on Butternut Drive near 148th Avenue in Park Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Ottawa County deputies say a 31-year-old Muskegon man was driving his 2013 Dodge Dart north on Butternut Drive and, while he was looking down at his phone, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. A southbound 2021 Ford Expedition driven by a 37-year-old man from Utah struck the Dodge Dart, deputies say. The driver of the Ford Expedition suffered no injury.

Jose Cruz Noguez, 47, of Mexicali, was arrested Monday night as he crossed into the United States at the Calexico Port of Entry. He appeared Tuesday in federal court in El Centro and faces conspiracy and smuggling charges involving serious injury or placing lives in danger, according to a statement from the U.S. attorney's office. Cruz was taken into custody after another suspected smuggler was arrested at a California border station two weeks after the crash.

Guatemala woman, 23, is among 13 killed in California crash

The youngest injured was a 15-year-old girl whose name and nationality were undetermined, according to California Highway Patrol. The Guatemala City woman lost consciousness. The Border Patrol said surveillance video showed the Expedition and a Chevrolet Suburban drive through an opening in the border wall about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of the crash.

Police: Armed man got in driver’s SUV at Pontiac stop sign, forced him to open beer, took vehicle
PONTIAC, Mich. – An armed man got inside a driver’s SUV at a stop sign in Pontiac, forced him to drive to another location to open a can of beer and then stole his vehicle, according to police. Oakland County deputies said a 48-year-old Pontiac man stoped at a sign sign at East Rundell Street and North Glenwood Avenue at 8:51 p.m. Monday (Feb. 22). When they arrived, the driver parked the Expedition and the armed man grabbed a can of beer, officials said. The armed man fled the scene in the vehicle, according to police. Officials said the armed man was in his 30s and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build and dreadlock-style hair with blonde tips.

Ford said Thursday morning that it plans to restart production at "key" North American assembly plants as early as April 6 after shutting down the factories last week under union pressure to contain the coronavirus outbreak from spreading throughout its workforce. Urged by the United Auto Workers union, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and General Motors announced plans to temporarily shutter their plants due to the coronavirus on March 18. Ford initially wanted to reopen its North American plants on March 30, however withdrew that timeline earlier this week because of various stay-at-home orders.
