Headstone falls on baby, fracturing her skull
DETROIT – A 10-month-old baby was sitting in front of her great grandmother’s headstone for a photo on Mother’s Day at a Detroit cemetery. When the stone was lifted off her, Melani McFadden had a “huge knot” and was bleeding from the back of her head, her mother Jessica McFadden told FOX 2 Detroit. She was taken to a local children’s hospital where she was diagnosed with a fractured skull. In a statement, the city said that headstones are placed by third-party contractors hired by families. Further, the cemetery operator had no record of concerns about the headstone, and it had not previously fallen and been reset, the report said.
