Michigan DB George Johnson enters transfer portal

A third member of the Michigan football team appears to be on the way out after an improbable 2021 season. George Johnson, a junior defensive back from Florida, announced Wednesday plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. “I am beyond grateful for being molded into the man I am today by having the opportunity to attend The University of Michigan,” Johnson wrote in a social media post titled, “New beginnings.” He has three years of eligibility remaining. Johnson made the switch to defensive in December 2019, during the lead up to the Citrus Bowl. Johnson’s decision to transfer comes two days after linebacker Anthony Solomon and defensive back Darion Green-Warren entered their names into the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

Driver dies after crash, car fire in Grand Haven Township

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MI - A driver is dead after crashing into a tree in Grand Haven Township early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. At roughly 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Grand Haven Township firefighters responded to a report of a power line on fire near the intersection of 114th Avenue and Rich Street. When they arrived, personnel found a single-vehicle crash was the cause of the fire. The driver died from fatal injuries related to the crash. The crash is still under investigation, though no other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.
