Red Wings select D Moritz Seider at 6th overall in 2019 NHL draft
The Detroit Red Wings have selected German defenseman Moritz Seider at 6th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. It's a suprising pick for new Detroit GM Steve Yzerman. Seider was not expected to go this high in the draft. Rounds 2-7 will resume Saturday at 1 p.m.Center Jack Hughes, of the U.S. National Development Program in Plymouth, was selected 1st overall by the Vancouver Canucks. Finnish winger Kaapo Kakko was taken 2nd by the New York Rangers.
Red Wings NHL draft preview: Who is best available at 6th overall?
The Detroit Red Wings own the 6th overall pick in this year's NHL draft. Remember, last year when Filip Zadina fell into Ken Holland's lap at 6th overall was the most exciting Red Wings draft ever. I always like to see teams in these positions take best overall, especially young rebuilding teams like the Red Wings. Short of putting together yet another mock draft -- see rant here -- forward Trevor Zegras could be the best option available for the Red Wings at 6th overall. Buffalo (from STL)Here's the rest of the Red Wings draft positions:

Red Wings have 10 games left in the tank-athon -- time to finish strong
DETROIT The Detroit Red Wings have 10 games remaining on their 2018-19 schedule. As Tankathon points out, the Red Wings currently sit in 29th place, giving them an 11.5 percent chance of grabbing the 1st overall pick in this year's NHL Draft Lottery. Detroit Red Wings 60 points 22 ROW 28. Anaheim Ducks 69 points 27 ROWThe Red Wings have 22 regulation/overtime wins, which is great in this tank race. That means the Red Wings have to do the right thing and go, I don't know, maybe like 1-9 in these next 10 games to ensure they are crowned the NHL's worst.
Red Wings are tanking, but is it enough to land Jack Hughes at 1st overall?
DETROIT Will the Detroit Red Wings land Jack Hughes at first overall in this year's NHL Entry Draft? NOTE: I simulated the lottery five times at Tankathon, and the Red Wings landed in the top five each time, but only landed the top pick one of those times. Keep this up and it's Jack Hughes in a Red Wings jersey this fall. The Kings are tied in points with the Red Wings right now, but Detroit has one more regulation-overtime win (ROW), keeping them lower in the standings. Here's what's left on the Red Wings schedule:
