DETROIT – A welfare check led to the discovery of a body and the arrest of the deceased person’s roommate last week, authorities said. Around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence on the 5040 block of Fairview Street for a welfare check, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Officers discovered John Boble, 43, of Detroit, inside the home; he was unresponsive and wasn’t breathing. DETROIT – A 32-year-old man died after he was shot multiple times while on the front steps of a Michigan home, authorities said. Larnell Frederick Smith, 34, of Detroit, is charged with second-degree murder and other crimes in connection with the fatal shooting of Nelson. Upon arrival, they found the victim on the front steps of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. It is alleged that the defendant and victim had a brief discussion, and then defendant produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times, causing fatal wounds. The probable cause conference is set for Sept. 8, and the preliminary examination is scheduled for Sept. 15 both before Judge Kenneth King.

At 10:40 a.m. on June 20, it is alleged that the defendant broke into the victim’s home, and she shouted at him to leave her house. He then allegedly pulled her pants down and put his body on top of hers. Johnson turned himself in on Thursday, June 30, at the Ninth Precinct of the Detroit Police Department. His probable cause conference is at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 11, and his preliminary examination is at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, July 18, both before Judge Kenneth King.

DETROIT – A Michigan man is charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of his father over the weekend, authorities said. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Shahriss Amir Muhammad, 33, of Detroit, with first-degree murder related to the death of his father, Samuel Logan, 71, of Detroit. At 6:39 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6340 block of Curtis Street in Detroit, the release said. It is alleged that Muhammad stabbed Logan multiple times before fleeing the scene, the release said. An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to Muhammad’s arrest on Sunday, March 20.

Andrea Tucker, 40, of Detroit, was shot in the driveway of a residence in the 16900 block of Carlisle in Detroit around 9 a.m. on Nov. 17. Jarren Cox of Wixom has been charged with first degree murder, felony firearm, and witness intimidation, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Thursday. It is alleged that Cox shot Tucker when she returned home from dropping her kids off at school. Cox was arrested on Nov. 22 after an investigation by the Detroit Police Department.

DETROIT -- A Detroit school teacher charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of a student had the case against him dismissed Wednesday by Judge Kenneth King, according to Fox 2 Detroit. King ruled the teacher, Kareem Sigler did not show gross negligence while overseeing the class where 15-year-old Da’Sean Blanding died in February 2020. Blanding and several other students were in the pool at Mumford High School when he was eventually found unresponsive by a swimming instructor. Blanding was pulled from the pool and CPR was performed, but he was eventually pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. “The death of Mr. Blanding could have been prevented,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said after issuing charges against Sigler in May 2020.
