But despite these changes, 4Frenzy โFavorite Freshmanโ nominee, Evie Liford, said math is still her favorite school subject. โMy favorite teacher is Mrs. Stankrauff,โ said Liford. โShe makes sure everyone understands the concepts and she doesnโt make you feel bad if you have a wrong answer.โIn January, Clawson High School transitioned to an in-person learning schedule.
Chandler Park Academy students take home national prize for science experiment
AdChandler Park Academy in Harper Woods is getting national recognition for their part in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program. โThey had to compare, analyze the ground experiment with the space experiment, and they had to complete a two-page report and send it back to the National Center of Earth and Space Science Education program,โ Richardson said. The science experiment is tomato seed germination. MORE: Black History Month coverageRichardson said they worked with their teachers and even contacted Google Scholars who are experts in the field. โFor Chandler Park Academy, we are really immersing our kids into various STEM programs because often times, there are a science divide,โ she said.
Detroit nonprofit introduces underrepresented children to STEM careers
DETROIT โ The Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) has spent more that 40 years introducing children to STEM careers. While the fall session just wrapped up, itโs not too late to enroll you child in the virtual spring program. Nonprofit DAPCEP helps about 11,000 underrepresented students across southeast Michigan each year discover careers in STEM. DAPCEP Executive Director Michelle Reaves said scholarships are available to help open doors and break down barriers for people of color in STEM.
