Motor City Match winner celebrates opening of nail salon in Detroit
DETROIT โ The Motor City Match program has helped more than 13,000 businesses in Detroit, ranging from boutiques to nail salons. On Monday, a Motor City Match winner celebrated the opening of her nail salon located in the basement of an apartment building on Second Avenue. After spending years working at salons in the suburbs, she wanted to bring the luxury to the city. Vang said getting to this day took over two years, dealing with a variety of hurdles such as the coronavirus pandemic. As I always say, I want to serve the city that have raised me.
Two arrested, charged in Canton Township salon break-in
CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a Canton Township salon break in, police say. On Thursday, Benjamin James Timmer and Katelyn Marie Howard were arraigned in the 35th District Court on charges of breaking and entering into Tinaโs Nail Salon on Ford Road. Timmer, 49, was charged with charged with breaking and entering a building, a 10-year felony; possession of burglary tools, a 10-year felony; and habitual offender fourth offense. Howard, 22, was charged with breaking and entering a building, a 10-year-felony. A judge set Timmerโs bond at $10,000 (10%) with a GPS tether, and Howardโs bond at $5,000 (10%).
