The state now is averaging 627 new, reported cases and 17 confirmed deaths a day in the last seven days. In total, there have been 32,830 confirmed deaths and 2,078,951 confirmed cases in Michigan since the start of the pandemic, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Below is a chart that indicates the seven-day average for new cases reported per day throughout the pandemic. The arrows on the map below show whether cases this week are lower than new cases last week.

Tigers’ adjusted 2022 schedule released: Season now ends in Seattle

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Major League Baseball has completed the complicated task of adjusting the Detroit Tigers’ schedule. The lockout cost the Tigers seven games: Four in Seattle (March 31-April 3) and three in Oakland (April 4-6). Instead of starting the season against the Mariners, the Tigers will now finish the season at T-Mobile Park. (The Tigers will officially serve as the home team for the opener and the road team for Game 2). The lockout forced MLB to twice cancel regular season games, but the final agreement reached between owners and players called for a full schedule.

The Kalamazoo area was well-represented in the Division 2 state meet at Oakland where Portage Central and Portage Northern each claimed three all-state finishes. The 100-yard breaststroke provided the highlight for the Mustangs and Huskies, as Central’s Kyle Liu and Northern’s Nickolas Peristeridis not only earned all-state honors by placing in the top eight, but also qualified for All-American status by beating the All-American Consideration cut-off by fractions of a second. The Kalamazoo area also produced multiple all-state swimmers in the Division 3 meet at Calvin, where Allegan led the way with three top-eight finishers.
