An undersea earthquake has shaken part of eastern Indonesia, but there are no immediate reports of serious damage or casualties

A very powerful 7.8 earthquake shook large portions of Ecuador Saturday. Nearly 80 are reported dead. Reporter Stephan Kufner has the latest from Quito.

The quake was a magnitude 7.8, and is the worst to strike Nepal in more than 80 years. It toppled walls and knocked down buildings in the capital, Kathmandu. Charlie D’Agata reports from London on the latest developments.
