The presidents of the Big Ten met Sunday to get updates on testing and medical information to possibly reverse a decision that canceled the season. Midwest legislative leaders urge Big Ten to reconsider fall sports
Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) and other Midwest legislative leaders announced Tuesday they sent a joint letter to Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren encouraging the conference to reconsider its stance on the fall sports season. The Big Ten Conference announced on Aug. 11 that it would move its football season to the spring semester because of health risks associated with the coronavirus. Over the weekend, President Trump tweeted Big Ten members University of Michigan and Michigan State University could be excluded from the next football season due to the governors response to the coronavirus. Big Ten Football is looking really good, but may lose Michigan, Illinois and Maryland because of those Governors' ridiculous lack of interest or political support, Trump tweeted Sunday. Last week, the Michigan High School School Athletic Association (MHSAA) reinstated football and other high school sports.

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has proclaimed Friday as "Spartan Green Day" in honor of the No. 5 Michigan State football team. Brian Calley, a Michigan State graduate, this week presented the proclamation to Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio and the team in East Lansing. The proclamation from Snyder, a graduate of the University of Michigan, encourages people in Michigan to wear green in support of the Spartans, whose colors are green and white.
Week 1: Michigan State shows elite defense is back
EAST LANSING, Mich. – When the Michigan State Spartans took the field Friday night against Jacksonville State, few questioned that their defense would be among the best in the conference. Michigan State was supposed to dominate the lowly Ohio Valley opponent. Jacksonville State finished its other 11 drives with seven punts, three interceptions and a turnover on downs. Maybe not much, but with the track record of this Michigan State defense, fans can expect this to set the tone for the rest of the season. Michigan State will travel to Eugene on Saturday to battle perhaps the most intimidating offensive team in the country: the Oregon Ducks.
