As the Michigan girls high school soccer postseason kicks off this week, players from the Southeastern Conference have received awards for the efforts they put forth during the regular season. The all-conference teams for the SEC-White and SEC-Red were announced Wednesday afternoon, which highlighted the top players in 2022. Ann Arbor Skyline, Pinckney and Chelsea each led the way with four first-team selections. Skyline won the SEC-Red with a 12-2 league record and Pinckney claimed the SEC-White at 8-0-2. The teams were selected by coaches in the SEC.

In-N-Out Burger, a large regional chain headquartered in California, filed a civil suit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in July 2020 against locally-based Doll n’ Burgers for alleged trade dress infringement, stating Doll n’ Burgers restaurants look too much like In-N-Out. In March, the judge granted In-N-Out’s motion to dismiss Doll n’ Burgers’ argument to cancel In-N-Out’s registered trade dress, records show, stating the registered trade dress is recognizable by the public. The judge ruled against Doll ‘n Burgers’ argument. That includes whether or not In-N-Out has a valid common law trade dress, and whether or not Doll n’ Burgers infringed on that. Both In-N-Out and Doll n’ Burgers declined to comment on the lawsuit.

There must have been a pretty fast track at Napoleon on April 14, because of the 17 events, the top spot in six are from that one meet. Plenty of other times and distances are scattered through the leaderboard from that meet as well. If someone comes along with a better time, distance or height, that spot on the leaderboard changes hands. Each athlete’s best time so far this season counts and we figure out whose best is the best so far.

The Western boys basketball team opened the postseason on Monday with a 55-40 win over Tecumseh. Tecumseh took an early 10-3 lead before the Panthers rallied to lead by four at halftime. LENAWEE COUNTY, MI – Two men were arrested Friday after they attempted to defraud a Tecumseh resident and went to his house to collect the money. While a scam of this type is not unusual, what made this call different was that the caller stated they would come to the resident’s home to collect the money, police said. Both men were taken to the Lenawee County Jail to await charges, police said. As a reminder, neither the police nor the court accept money to get “rid” of criminal cases, police said. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office and Region of Irish Hills Narcotics Office assisted in the Tecumseh incident.

ADRIAN, MI – A Tecumseh man will spend 20 to 45 years in prison for murdering his wife. A Lenawee County jury found James Allan guilty of second-degree murder in September after a two-year investigation into the death of Amy Allan, according to Michigan State Police. He was sentenced by Lenawee County 39th Circuit Court Judge Michael R. Olsaver on Thursday, Oct. 21. Related: Man charged with murder after faking wife’s suicide, police sayThe Tecumseh Police Department found “numerous suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death and handed the case over to Michigan State Police. The Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the investigation and issued an arrest warrant for murder on Oct. 16, 2020.

JACKSON, MI – A burger restaurant with locations in Jackson and Tecumseh is being sued in federal court by a much larger U.S. chain for alleged trade dress infringement. In-N-Out Burger, a large regional chain headquartered in California, filed the civil suit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in July 2020 against locally-based Doll n’ Burgers, due to Doll n’ Burgers restaurants allegedly looking too much like its restaurants.

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI - A pair of male teens died in a single-vehicle crash Monday night that also left two other teens seriously injured, police said. Troopers responded to the crash around 8:04 p.m., Sept. 20 on North Adrian Highway north of M-52 in Franklin Township, west of Tecumseh in Lenawee County, according to Michigan State Police. North Adrian Highway was closed for about six hours for the crash investigation. MSP received assistance at the scene from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office and fire departments from Raisin Township, Clinton and Tecumseh. FRANKLIN TWP., MI - A Chicago man in his 40s is in critical condition after crashing head-on with a car on US-12 Saturday night in Lenawee County, police said. Deputies responded to reports of a serious crash around 9 p.m., Aug. 21 on US-12 near Wisner Highway in Franklin Township northwest of Tecumseh, said the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office in a release. Initial investigation determined that the man, who was driving a 2010 Nissan sedan on eastbound US-12, attempted to pass two vehicles, police said. The Chicago man was in critical condition when he was airlifted by helicopter to University of Michigan Hospital, police said. The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and is still investigating.

Bicyclist in critical condition after being struck by vehicle in Clawson
CLAWSON, Mich. - Police said a bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Clawson. The crash happened at 10:14 p.m. Sunday in the area of South Main and Tecumseh streets, officials said. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling south on Main Street when the bicyclist, heading east on Tecumseh Street, entered the roadway without stopping. The bicyclist was struck by the vehicle and taken to Royal Oak Beaumont for treatment, according to authorities. The driver stopped at the crash scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
