WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- The holiday season is here and the opportunities to do a good turn are out in full force. And those looking to donate toys to children can do so through a host of Toys for Tots donation bins scattered throughout Washtenaw County. Toys for Tots does not provide a list of appropriate gifts, but states on its website it will not distribute gifts with realistic looking weapons or food. While donors can drop off toys at boxes around the county, they can also participate in an upcoming toy drive and benefit concert. WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — Organizers of Washtenaw County’s U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign need a little extra help this year in bringing Christmas toys for less-fortunate children. Along with the usual donations the program collects every year, it needs a new warehouse space this year to house the toys and meet with families. “It means a lot to be able to host the Toys for Tots campaign every year,” Washtenaw County Coordinator Tracy Pittman said. The ideal space will be at least 1500 square feet within the Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor areas, Pittman said. Last year, Washtenaw county distributed more than 23,600 new, unwrapped toys.
