'Another chance': Detroit woman shot in chest thanks EMS crew who kept her alive
During National EMS Week, a Detroit EMS crew was honored at the Detroit Institute of Arts for their life-saving response to a critical shooting victim, Blake, who survived thanks to their quick actions. On February 18, Blake suffered life-threatening injuries but was stabilized on the scene by six EMS workers and a supervisor before being transported to Sinai Grace hospital. The crew’s swift care was credited by medical professionals as the key factor in her survival, earning them the prestigious Kim L. Lifesaver of the Year Award. Blake attended the ceremony to personally thank the team, emphasizing the profound impact of their work.
