The National Weather Service in Marquette says whiteout conditions are expected along with possible power outages.

“Snow accumulations of up to one foot are forecast at the shore with two feet or more expected to pile up in the higher terrain areas inland from Lake Superior. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.”

Winter storm warnings are also in effect for the majority of the Upper Peninsula, with several inches of snow and high winds expected in areas just outside the blizzard warning zone.
