The repeating messy weather during the coming week will have us feeling like Bill Murray’s character in the movie “Groundhog Day.”

The messy weather will make an appearance for the second half of this weekend, too.

Saturday Night

Besides the cloudy skies, it will be cold Saturday night with a chance of flurries. Lows will be around 20 degrees. Winds will be out of the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.

Groundhog Day

Heading to the Plymouth Ice Festival, Winter Blast Royal Oak, or one of the many other events happening in Southeast Michigan on Groundhog Day? The snow showers will move into Southeast Michigan on Sunday morning around sunrise from the west. There is a chance of a coating of snow and up to an inch before the snow exits the region in the late morning and early afternoon hours. Some roads may be slippery, especially side streets. Some mixing with rain is possible during the late morning south of I-696. Highs will be in the mid 30s. Southerly winds will be 5 to 12 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday night will be cloudy with rising temperatures. After lows around freezing, temperatures will rise by a few degrees as milder air flows into Metro Detroit behind a warm front.

Monday

Monday will bring another chance of wintry weather for some communities. Rain and snow showers will move into Southeast Michigan in the morning, but the best chance will be north of M-59. This precipitation chance will last into the evening hours. Highs will be around 40 degrees.

Monday night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower to mid 20s.

Tuesday

Tuesday’s weather will be uneventful with highs around 30 degrees.

Wednesday

A mixed bag of precipitation will make an appearance on Wednesday. Rain and snow showers will begin to arrive midday. Some freezing rain will be possible. Plan for slick roads. Highs will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. The chance of mixed precipitation will continue into the evening. Icy roads will be an increased concern during the nighttime hours and Thursday morning.

Thursday

The wintry mix will impact the Thursday morning commute, but afternoon temperatures will rise above freezing across Southeast Michigan. Expect highs from the mid 30s to around 40 degrees.

Friday

Friday should be a cold and calmer weather day with mostly skies and temperatures around 30 degrees, but snow showers will reenter the forecast for Saturday.
