Isolated strong storms possible across Southeast Michigan Friday

Severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening throughout Southeast Michigan

4Warn Weather – Isolated strong thunderstorms will be possible throughout the southern side of the Lower Peninsula this afternoon and evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Southeast Michigan in a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather today.

Isolated showers will be possible throughout the morning and midday hours, but most will stay dry.

Heavier rain and possible thunderstorms associated with a cold front will move in this afternoon.

Storms may have heavy rain, gusty winds, and large hail.

Our rain and storm chance will carry through the evening before rain moves out near midnight. We look to pick up 1/4″ to 1/2″ of rainfall overnight.

That will give way to a drier, and cooler, weekend.

Highs Friday will be mainly in the mid 70s. Communities further north will be closer to 70° while southward areas will be near 80°. Winds will be southerly around 5-10 mph.

Tonight winds shift to the northwest, bringing in cooler air. Overnight lows will be in the low 40s north to low 50s south.

Fog and drizzle will be possible Saturday morning. Afternoon highs Saturday will only be near 60° under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday’s highs will be in the lower 60s with more sunshine.
