4Warn Weather – Metro Detroit is getting a couple of days of rain showers and comfortable temperatures.
Keep an umbrella nearby, with rain showers moving through the area on Wednesday night.
Lows will be in the mid 50s to near 60 degrees.
Thursday
The unsettled weather pattern will continue late Wednesday into Thursday morning as additional showers and thunderstorms move across Southeast Michigan.
Some thunderstorms could become strong Thursday afternoon and evening as warmer, more humid air returns to the region.
Although the severe weather threat remains low, Thursday’s strongest storms could produce brief downpours and isolated gusty winds, particularly south of the M-59.
Friday and weekend
Drier weather is expected to return to most of Metro Detroit on Friday, although areas closer to the Ohio border could still see an isolated shower.
The weekend appears largely favorable for outdoor plans, with temperatures climbing back into the upper 70s and lower 80s under a mix of sunshine and clouds.
Attention is already turning to next week, when a significant warming trend is expected to develop across the Great Lakes.
High temperatures are forecast to be near 90 degrees by Monday and lower to mid 90s in the following days, while humidity levels steadily increase.
The combination of temperatures in the 90s and dew points rising into the 70s could create dangerous heat indices and may eventually require heat-related advisories if current forecasts hold.
Next week
Nights will offer little relief, with lows only in the 70s.
The early-July heat will arrive just ahead of Independence Day, raising concerns for outdoor workers, athletes, festivalgoers, and anyone planning to spend extended time outdoors.
The 4Warn Weather team will continue to monitor the potential for a heat wave as Southeast Michigan heads into the final days of June and the start of the Fourth of July holiday week.
