Police investigating after 2 killed, 1 injured in drive-by shooting in Detroit’s Lafayette Park area

Police asking people to stay away from the area

DETROIT – An investigation is underway after two people were killed and one was injured in a shooting in Detroit’s Lafayette Park area, police said.

Detroit police officers are in the area of East Larned and Orleans streets to investigate the shooting.

It is believed to have been a drive-by shooting that targeted four people inside a Ford Edge. A black SUV pulled up near the Ford Edge and opened fire on the vehicle.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and one person was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

“Our investigators are digging into it right now and interviewing one of the passengers of the vehicle. We’ve got some video assets in the area that we’re gonna be pulling but we need the community’s help,” Detroit police Chief James White said.

Police are asking people to stay clear of the area while they investigate.
