Monroe County man convicted in death of Kayla Sedoskey

2 others awaiting trial on first-degree homicide charges

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A Frenchtown Township man has been convicted on homicide charges in the death of 23-year-old Kayla Sedoskey.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Steven Bails, 45, was convicted by a jury of first-degree homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide.

Sedoskey’s body was found on March 2, 2023, in the abandoned Boysville Juvenile Detention Center. Six people, including Bails, were arrested in connection with the murder.

  • Narena Bails and Sierra Bemis pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide.
  • Alexander Feko pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and three counts of accessory to homicide after the fact.
  • Brin Smith and Kaylyn Ramse are awaiting trial on charges of first-degree homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide.
