Man sentenced in Troy hit-and-run that injured bike-riding 7-year-old girl

TROY, Mich. – A man from Troy has been sentenced to a year in jail in a hit-and-run that injured a 7-year-old girl.

The crash happened May 13, 2023 near the intersection of Silverstone Drive and Dryden Road in Troy. Police said Raed Yousef Abdalla struck the girl while she was crossing the street on a bicycle. She suffered broken bones and severe cuts.

Authorities said he switched cars after the hit-and-run.

Police found the car that hit her at a Roseville used car dealership within an hour of the crash. They connected Abdalla to the dealership and took him into custody in June 2023.

He was charged with failure to stop at the scene of a crash causing serious injury and was held on a $1 million bond.

Abdalla pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced March 27 to one year in jail with a credit for 31 days.
