Ferndale bank robbery leads to years in jail for 68-year-old

FERNDALE, Mich. – A 68-year-old man will spend years in jail for robbing a bank in Ferndale.

According to authorities, Alvin Myron Murray reportedly robbed the First Merchant Bank in Ferndale in November 2025. Authorities said he handed the teller a note demanding money and she complied.

Murray was later identified by a witness and reportedly tied to an Ann Arbor bank robbery in October 2025.

He pleaded no contest to bank robbery and on Tuesday, March 17, he was sentenced to 2.5 to 20 years in jail.
