LAKELAND, Fla.Detroit Tigers’ star outfield prospect Riley Greene was removed from Friday’s spring training game due to an apparent injury -- just one week before Opening Day.

Greene, who entered Friday’s game against the New York Yankees batting .400 during spring training, hit a triple off of Gerrit Cole in his only at-bat. It was his second triple of the spring, to go along with two homers and three doubles.

He was removed from the game before the top half of the following inning.

Greene, 21, is a consensus top 10 prospect in MLB and figures to be the starting center fielder for the Tigers on Opening Day, if healthy.

In 124 games between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo last year, Greene hit .301 with a .387 on-base percentage and .534 slugging percentage. He finished with 25 doubles, eight triples and 24 home runs.

The Tigers haven’t provided an official update on his status.
