Flint Powers Catholic advances to girls regional soccer finals
FLINT – Powers Catholic is headed to the girls regional soccer finals. The Chargers won their semifinal game 4-0 Wednesday against Almont, putting them in the 6 p.m. Division 3 regional championship game against host Williamston. Caralyn Haas, Grace Cameron and Lexie Affrica scored first-half goals for Powers before Haas completed the scoring in the second half with her second of the game. Powers will take a 14-3-3 record into the regional championship game while Williamston is 14-2-1. The Division 2 championship game is June 18 at Michigan State.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI -- An investigation is underway after a 47-year-old Almont woman was killed Monday in a single-car crash on northbound M-53 near 21 Mile Road. According to a press release from the Shelby Township Police Department, the crash was reported around 12:02 p.m. Monday after witnesses saw a Ford Expedition leave the freeway and drive into the woods. The driver of the vehicle was the lone occupant at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have yet to determine why the car may have possibly left the road. Anyone with information on the crash or who was a witness is asked to contact Sgt.
