Road commission investigates sinkhole on busy Clarkston road after video goes viral
CLARKSTON, Mich. – A Clarkston man became concerned when he noticed a pothole on a busy road, so he tested its depth with a PVC pipe. “I thought it was a regular pothole, and the more I inspected it, there was no bottom,” said resident Josh Turcsak. Turcsak grabbed a long pipe from his garage and recorded a video of him lowering the pipe into the hole on Clarkston Road -- and that video went viral. The Oakland County Road Commission also said there is no danger to the public and that the road is not going to collapse.
‘I am sorry I have to do this’: Oakland County man with Airsoft pistol robs store, police say
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Oakland County man armed with an Airsoft pistol was arrested after he robbed a store, apologized to the clerk and shaved off all his facial hair to try to hide his identity, police said. Matthew Christopher Brusen, 21, of Independence Township, walked into the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 5751 Clarkston Road in Independence Township at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, according to authorities. Brusen took an item to the register and handed the clerk money when she scanned the item, police said. He lifted his coat to reveal a bulge, indicating he was armed, according to police. Brusen was taken to the Oakland County Jail and is facing an armed robbery charge.
Neighbor describes scene of seaplane crash outside Independence Township home
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A seaplane crashed in the front yard of a home Monday around 12:45 p.m. near Greenview Drive and Clarkston Road in Independence Township, deputies said. She immediately ran outside to a small seaplane in the middle of her neighbor's yard. The video showed orange flames surrounding the plane.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A pilot and passenger were taken to a hospital to be checked out after a seaplane crashed into the front yard of an Oakland County home, officials said. The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Monday near Greenview Drive and Clarkston Road in Independence Township, deputies said. Officials said the plane didn't hit any homes, just the ground.
