Highs Saturday in the low 20s (-6 degrees Celsius), and lows Saturday night back down into the single digits (-13 degrees Celsius). Highs in the upper teens (-8 to -7 degrees Celsius). Tuesday snow storm outlookThe models disagree greatly on Tuesday’s storm. AdWe don’t get snow amounts from the UKMET model, but its surface pattern looks more like the ECMWF’s. So right now, plan on some serious shoveling on Tuesday, although the details won’t become more certain until later this weekend.

‘Heart attack snow’ coming: When shoveling becomes dangerous

This weekend’s mix of heavy snow and rain will create a heavy, dangerous sludge of snow in your yard. (4-8 inches of snow expected Saturday)Depending on your age and health history, you may want to stay away from trying to shovel this type of snow, also known as “heart attack snow,” and for good reason. Each year, shoveling snow sends more than 11,000 people to the hospital. These include anyone who:Is in poor physical conditionHas a history of heart disease, including heart attacks, heart failure and strokeHas hypertension or diabetesThe greatest population at risk: those who are recovering from a heart attack or being treated for heart failure. When under high physical stress, the plaque can rupture and cause a heart attack — even if it was not significantly blocking the artery.
