McDavid notched his 500th NHL point with a first-period assist in Wednesday night's 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. The 24-year-old center, from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is the 21st player in NHL history to accomplish the feat before his 25th birthday. McDavid now has 171 goals and 330 assists in his career and leads the NHL in points this season with nine goals and 22 assists in 18 games.
John Muckler, coach who won 5 Cups with Oilers, dies at 86

He joined Edmonton in 1982 as an assistant coach under Glen Sather and won five Stanley Cups with the organization from 1984-90, the last one as head coach. When the Midland, Ontario, native left Edmonton, he served as director of operations and head coach for the Buffalo Sabres from 1991-95. Muckler also was head coach of the New York Rangers from 1997-2000, and spent 35 games in charge of the 1968-69 Minnesota North Stars. He became general manager of the Ottawa Senators in 2001 and helped build a team that reached the 2007 Stanley Cup final, where the Senators lost to Anaheim.

Oilers say McDavid tests positive for COVID-19
EDMONTON, AB โ Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid has tested positive for COVID-19. McDavid, a 23-year-old forward, is self-quarantining at home and experiencing mild symptoms, according to the Oilers. โHe will continue to be monitored and will follow all associated health protocols,โ the team said Monday night in a statement. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, is widely considered the best player in the NHL. The captain of the Oilers had 34 goals and 63 assists in 64 games during the pandemic-shortened season.
Report: Former Red Wings defenseman Mike Green to retire from hockey
Mike Green plans to retire from hockey amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report from The Athletic. The former Detroit Red Wings defenseman said he is considering other things that I feel called to do.Green, 34, joined the Red Wings in 2015. He had 11 points in 48 games played with the Red Wings this season with a -32 rating. He was traded to Ken Hollands Edmonton Oilers in February as the Oilers were making a push for the playoffs. Overall, Green recorded 501 points in 880 career NHL games.
Report: Ken Holland officially hired as Edmonton Oilers GM
DETROIT Ken Holland is officially taking the general manager position with the Edmonton Oilers, according to TSN's Ryan Rishaug. The longtime Detroit Red Wings GM was reportedly offered $25 million over five years to take control of Edmonton's full hockey operations. Under his tenure as GM, Detroit won three Stanley Cups and missed the playoffs just three times -- these past three years. Steve Yzerman was named Detroit's newest GM on April 19 and Holland was promoted to a senior executive position with the Red Wings. "It has been a privilege and an honor to be the general manager of the Detroit Red Wings."
