Michigan football announces rivalry game trophy with Northwestern to honor George Jewett
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ Michigan football announced future games against Northwestern will now be played for a rivalry trophy named after George Jewett. The George Jewett Trophy is the first rivalry game trophy named for an African American player in FBS history, according to U of M.Jewett played fullback, halfback and kicker for the Wolverines during the 1890 and 1892 seasons. โWe are proud to partner with our peer institution, Northwestern, to recognize and honor an African American pioneer in George Jewett. The George Jewett Trophy will become the 16th rivalry game trophy in the Big Ten. The first George Jewett Trophy game will be Oct. 23, 2021, in Ann Arbor.

Over 6,000 pounds of frozen meat sold at Walmart recalled

George's Prepared Foods, the company that produces Walmart's Great Value frozen, fully cooked meat, said that the products were meant to be disposed of after a small group of them tested positive for salmonella but were accidentally shipped nationwide. M2206T" or "P-2260T" are printed on the recalled products' packaging. There haven't been any illnesses reported yet, but George's and the USDA urge consumers to throw away or return the recalled products. The most common symptoms include diarrhea, fever and cramps, which typically last up to a week, the USDA said.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be a page boy and bridesmaid for their teacher's wedding, according to reports. Lucy Lanigan-OKeeffe, the assistant head teacher at George's school in London, is marrying their dad's life-long friend, Thomas van Straubenzee. Charlotte will also start attending the school, Thomas' Battersea School, later this year. Van Straubenzee and his younger brother, Charlie, both served as ushers at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding last year. It's not the first time Prince William and Kate Middleton's children have taken part in a wedding.
Macomb County couple sentenced for keeping woman in shed, selling her for sex
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A Macomb County couple was sentenced Thursday for keeping a woman with mental and physical disabilities in a shed and selling her online for sex. Investigators said Misty George, 30, and her boyfriend, Mike Welch, 38, kept the 29-year-old woman in a shed next to their trailer in Macomb Township. They used her to generate money online by selling her for sex, police said. George was charged with human trafficking -- forced labor, using a computer to commit a crime and accepting earnings from prostitution. Nobody said they saw the 29-year-old woman the couple is accused of keeping locked in the shed.
