HARPER WOODS, Mich. – A Wayne County spokesperson said that a woman who died at the Harper Woods jail died of natural causes. The Wayne County Medical Examiner said Priscilla Slater died of cardiac dysrhythmia and the manner of her death was natural, involving no foul play. Harper Woods asked the Michigan State Police to launch an investigation. Detroit man charged after shots fired at Parkcrest Inn in Harper Woods
HARPER WOODS, Mich. Officials said on Tuesday at 1 a.m. officers from the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety responded to the Parkcrest Inn on the report of shots being fired. When officers arrived, they found several victims who reported being shot at by the same man. Lewis Nichols, 27, of Detroit, was found in the rear seat of a vehicle parked in the rear parking lot of the Parkcrest Inn and arrested. Officers also found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle. Officers also recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle with Nichols.

38-year-old woman dies in holding cell in Harper Woods; cause unknown
HARPER WOODS, Mich. A family is looking for answers after a woman was found unresponsive in police custody in Harper Woods on Wednesday. Pricilla Slater, 38, was found unresponsive in a holding cell around 12:35 p.m. by Harper Woods Department of Public Safety personnel, officials said. A St. John Hospital physician pronounced the woman dead at 12:45 p.m., officials said. Slater was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. Harper Woods officials say the Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
