Where and when to find a free, hot Christmas dinner in the Ann Arbor area
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — During the season of giving, free Christmas hot meals will be given to community members in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas. Residents looking to enjoy a no-cost Christmas meal during the holiday weekend can go to any of these locations. Food Gatherers is working with the center to provide Christmas meals for lower income families and the homeless. Motown legend Martha Reeves returns to Ann Arbor Academy to help plan fundraiser
Reeves was friends with the executive running a nonprofit out of the residence on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit and became immediately enthralled with Barg, the director of development for the Ann Arbor Academy. “Growing up in Detroit, I had been thoroughly schooled on Motown,” Barg told a group of parents and members of the Ann Arbor business community who were visiting Ann Arbor Academy Friday, Dec. 10. Reeves said she plans to return to the school to help students prepare for the fundraiser, in addition to headlining it, with the students also showcasing their talents. “I fell in love with the babies (at Ann Arbor Academy). ... Motown artist Ne-Yo to join Temptations, Martha Reeves and others at Detroit concert
DETROIT - Contemporary Motown artist Ne-Yo will join the Temptations, Martha Reeves and others from the label's classic era during a concert marking the 60th anniversary of the recording company. The Motown Museum has set Sept. 22 for Hitsville Honors: Celebrating Berry Gordy & 60 Years of Motown at Detroit's Orchestra Hall.
