DETROIT – A New Hampshire woman pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to charges related to sending threatening texts to a Detroit-area election official after a November 2020 meeting to certify Wayne County results in the presidential election, The Associated Press reports. Jones threatened Monica Palmer, Republican chair of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers, and her family because she felt Palmer was interfering with the presidential election. Both Republicans agreed to vote to certify results in favor of Joe Biden in exchange for an audit of Wayne County results, but Palmer later signed an affidavit saying she wanted to rescind her vote. “F****** with our elections is TERRORISM, and us Americans clearly don’t tolerate terrorist so yes you should be afraid, your daughter should be afraid and so should (your husband),” one of the threatening texts read. During the execution of a search warrant on Dec. 22, 2020, Jones admitted to sending the threatening texts and Instagram messages.

Secretary of State Benson To Do Performance Edit Audit of Wayne County Votes
CBS Detroit – In Lansing Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced she will direct her agency to do a post-election performance edit in Wayne County. A performance audit of Wayne County and some other areas are being planned along with a “state-wide risk-limiting audit of November’s general election”, Benson said in a press release. According to the Detroit Free Press, Risk-limiting audits are when a certain percentage of paper ballots are checked to confirm accuracy. According to the Detroit Free Press, most were within three votes or less. However, in the counting for Wayne County Circuit Court judge election, an error caused the Wayne county Canvassing Board to find 14,130 absentee ballots that were not counted.
