Red-shirted teachers and staff in Seattle Public Schools took to the picket lines instead of the classroom on what was supposed to be the first day of school Wednesday.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged in an assault case at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte.

A16-year-old student stabbed an 18-year-old student in the back at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte on Thursday, according to police.

Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte is on lockdown after a student injured a classmate in an altercation and fled the building, officials said.

An Airport High School educator was selected by a regional insurance bureau to receive a grant to support classroom activities this year.

Shots will also be available during CPS summer programs and back-to-school events.

She founded the People’s Project to help battle youth mental illness. “The People’s Project is very near and dear to her heart," said Kaylee’s dad, Jerry Barton. "One of her best friends committed suicide several years ago and it deeply affected her, and still does. Jackson Northwest, Michigan Center and Springport have already canceled Friday night’s varsity football games, as well as all other high school-level athletic events and practices. Springport and Michigan Center have officially entered a two-week quarantine period, while Jackson Northwest has not made an official ruling as of Thursday afternoon. Northwest has not officially moved to virtual learning beyond Friday, Sept. 25, but has canceled all athletic events for Sept. 24 and 25.
