Some candidates want to keep the Bears in Chicago but not if it means spending city tax dollars.

Team officials have said they expect to decide whether to buy the former Arlington International Racecourse property in the first quarter of 2023.

The Detroit Lions stormed back from a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Chicago Bears 31-30 for their second win in a row while snapping a 13-game road losing streak under head coach Dan Campbell.

CHICAGO -- The Detroit Lions roared back to upend Chicago 31-30 on Sunday at Soldier Field. On a day where Detroit needed him to be everything, he was. All the injuries forced the Lions to re-sign Trinity Benson off Denver’s practice squad, who also left the game with an injury. After so many challenges and injuries, this was Okwara’s best game in Detroit, and perhaps a sign that progress has finally been achieved. That was a great find by the last regime, and the new regime loved him too, handing Okwara a three-year extension worth $37 million last offseason. Now just four games into that contract, Okwara has joined Okudah on the long road to recovery from one of the worst injuries any player can suffer.

Rookie Penei Sewell is struggling at left tackle. He played his worst game of the season last week against Baltimore, then was even worse in Chicago. There’s a reason the Lions wanted him at left tackle (because he’s really good) and Sewell on the right (because he’s really young), and while they have not announced their future intentions, dollars to doughnuts Decker will stay at left tackle when he comes off injured reserve. To be fair to Price, he’s not even supposed to be out there. Detroit also played that game without its top left tackle (Taylor Decker), top cornerback (Jeff Okudah), the top cornerback’s replacement (Ifeati Melifonwu) and top run defender on the edge (Trey Flowers).
