3 things we learned: Amon-Ra St. Brown is so good, but injury concerns grow at WR
CHICAGO -- The Detroit Lions roared back to upend Chicago 31-30 on Sunday at Soldier Field. On a day where Detroit needed him to be everything, he was. All the injuries forced the Lions to re-sign Trinity Benson off Denver’s practice squad, who also left the game with an injury. After so many challenges and injuries, this was Okwara’s best game in Detroit, and perhaps a sign that progress has finally been achieved. He missed a tackle on Fields’ 67-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, plus gave up another touchdown to Cole Kmet in pass coverage.
mlive.comLions center Frank Ragnow in walking boot after win against Bears
The Detroit Lions knocked off the Chicago Bears 31-30 on Sunday to extend their longest winning streak in years to, well, two games. But after the game, All-Pro center Frank Ragnow was wearing a walking boot on his left leg as he made his way toward the team bus at Soldier Field. Ragnow has battled foot issues dating back to the game at Soldier Field last year. He felt a pop in his foot on the first play of that game, an injury that turned out to be a torn plantar plate. “Obviously last year was really, really, really frustrating,” Ragnow said during training camp.

Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes notes that poll questions can be skewed to influence results and says anti-tax effort could affect all development in the village, not just the Bears.

chicagotribune.comWhy the NFL’s ‘socialistic enterprise’ means the Bears win at the bank even when they lose on the field
Sports economists say a bad season on the field for NFL teams is usually belied by a good one at the bank. No matter how poorly they play, teams get a share of the ocean of revenue generated by TV deals and national sponsorships.

chicagotribune.comRomeo Okwara reportedly ruptured Achilles tendon, confirming Lions’ worst fears
And in his return to Soldier Field, Okwara suffered a devasting Achilles injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season according to NFL Network. His status for the start of next season is in jeopardy too, based on the extended timeline for a return from the injury. That’s a huge blow for Okwara as well as the Lions. That was a great find by the last regime, and the new regime loved him too, handing Okwara a three-year extension worth $37 million last offseason. Now just four games into that contract, Okwara has joined Okudah on the long road to recovery from one of the worst injuries any player can suffer.
mlive.com3 things we learned: Lions rookie Penei Sewell is struggling at left tackle
Rookie Penei Sewell is struggling at left tackle. He played his worst game of the season last week against Baltimore, then was even worse in Chicago. There’s a reason the Lions wanted him at left tackle (because he’s really good) and Sewell on the right (because he’s really young), and while they have not announced their future intentions, dollars to doughnuts Decker will stay at left tackle when he comes off injured reserve. To be fair to Price, he’s not even supposed to be out there. Detroit also played that game without its top left tackle (Taylor Decker), top cornerback (Jeff Okudah), the top cornerback’s replacement (Ifeati Melifonwu) and top run defender on the edge (Trey Flowers).
mlive.comHalftime analysis: Once again, Detroit Lions killing themselves against lowly Bears
CHICAGO -- The Detroit Lions flew across Lake Michigan looking to break the second-longest losing streak in the NFL. Instead, they’re continuing to show why they’re winless while falling behind 14-0 on Sunday against the struggling Bears at Soldier Field. The Lions allowed touchdowns on their first two defensive series, sandwiched by one of the ugliest turnovers you’ll ever see. It all happened inside the Bears’ 10-yard line. For those scoring at home, that’s three trips inside the 10-yard line in a single half, and zero points to show for it.

chicagotribune.com5 things to watch: The Bears have even more problems on offense than Detroit
ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions (0-3) are looking for their first win of the season on Sunday when they head to Chicago to face the Bears (1-2) at Soldier Field. Yes, Detroit has serious offensive problems, especially in the passing game. It remains unclear whether Dalton, Fields or Nick Foles will get the start against Detroit. They still haven’t won since beating, you guessed it, the Bears at Soldier Field last year. That was their first game after firing Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn, and Detroit still hasn’t won since, dropping seven straight.

A historically bad effort by the Chicago offense has coach Matt Nagy rethinking his approach after only the third week of the season. It could all lead to a change in who calls the plays or even who the quarterback is as the Bears prepare to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Soldier Field. “Again, just to keep it super simple, everything’s on the table,” Nagy said.
