After switching to a virtual format for the past two years due to the ongoing pandemic, the โMichigan Softball Academyโ sponsored by the University of Michigan Wolverines softball team is returning to an in-person format this year.
COVID restrictions affect game day atmosphere at University of Michigan campus
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ The home opener for the University of Michigan Wolverines on Saturday also happened to be the big rivalry game against the Michigan State Spartans. Read: Lombardi helps Michigan State stun No. 13 Michigan 27-24While Ann Arbor was somewhat quiet compared to the crowd the games normally bring, there were still some fans outside of the stadium. Closer to campus, students held smaller tailgates with their friends, while popular tailgate locations, like the golf course and Ann Arbor Pioneer, were closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite that disappointment, hopes are high for these Michigan fans who are looking forward to college life without a pandemic and, hopefully, many victories ahead.
U-M frat defends the Diag against MSU vandals despite heavy snow in Ann Arbor
Its rivalry week in Ann Arbor and members of the Theta Xi fraternity have been guarding the Block M on the Diag since Saturday evening. As the tradition goes, MSU fans try to vandalize the brass inlaid Block M in Ann Arbor and U-M fans try to deface the Sparty statue in East Lansing. Theta Xi members were seen sweeping snow off couches used as barricades around the symbol and shoveling snow off the Block M as heavy snow continued to fall.
