From extensive on-campus activities -- not during a pandemic -- to powerhouse sports teams and a robust downtown, it comes as no surprise that Ann Arbor topped the rankings. In total, 415 college towns and cities of varying sizes were ranked on the list. In order to determine the rankings, Wallethub considered three key dimensions: wallet friendliness, academic and economic opportunities and social environment. After results were in, Wallethub used the weighted average of each town and city across all metrics to determine its overall score.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - In a recent report released by WalletHub, Ann Arbor was ranked the most educated city in the United States. With an estimated population of almost 122,000, 54.5 percent of Ann Arborites (and people from the Ann Arbor metro area) over the age of 25 hold a bachelor's degree. WalletHub also ranks Ann Arbor and its metro area as having the highest number of people with graduate or professional degrees. DETROIT – Ann Arbor is the most educated city in America with 51 percent of it's population above 25 years old holding a bachelor's degree, according to a list by WalletHub. The city also has the highest percentage of graduate or professional degree holders, ages 25 and older, at 26.7 percent, according to WalletHub.
