Toyota inks 5-year lease, $6M total investment at Ypsilanti automated vehicle center
YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, MI - Toyota is investing $6 million in an autonomous vehicle research and test site at Willow Run. The car manufacturer announced on Nov. 10 that it had inked a nearly $3.5-million lease lasting five years for facilities on the American Center for Mobility campus in Ypsilanti Township. The self-driving vehicle hub, a partnership between Michigan state agencies, the University of Michigan and economic development groups, had its ribbon cutting in late 2017. The expansion of Toyota’s footprint “punctuates the permanency of the ACM smart mobility test center and innovation campus, as well as the state of Michigan, as the epicenter for global automotive and mobility technology development,” Kaehr said.
