DETROIT โ One of the most heartbreaking stories out of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has been of the death of 5-year-old Skylar Herbert. Her parents are both first responders, and on Friday, first responders paid tribute to her. A procession of fist responders from several agencies spanned six blocks through the Herbertโs west side neighborhood. Skylarโs mother is a Detroit police officer and her father is a Detroit firefighter. DETROIT โ The family of the first Michigan child to die from coronavirus (COVID-19) spoke Monday afternoon, sharing their pain after losing their daughter. Skylar Herbert, 5, died Sunday morning at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Before Skylarโs death, the youngest person to die from COVID-19 in Michigan was 20. As of Monday afternoon, the stateโs death toll is 2,468, and 32,000 people have tested positive for the virus.
