After switching to a virtual format for the past two years due to the ongoing pandemic, the โMichigan Softball Academyโ sponsored by the University of Michigan Wolverines softball team is returning to an in-person format this year.
University of Michigan-Dearborn suspends 20 softball players after holding practice
DEARBORN, Mich. โ Twenty members of University of Michigan-Dearbornโs softball team have been suspended after holding practice. The team was originally not allowed to practice for three weeks, but that changed to a two-game suspension for the players. This absolutely feels like retaliation against a young student athlete who called them on the carpet and they didnโt like it,โ said Skeneโs father, Doug Skene. Doug Skene said this type of first-time infraction should merit a warning as opposed to mass suspensions. Not only was it not allowed, now itโs being recognized as punished,โ Doug Skene said.

DETROIT Will it be safe for children, high schoolers or anybody to play sports amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic? Experts have divided 25 popular sports into three categories: high, moderate and low risk. The National Federation of State High School Associations released their list, which is based on the amount of close, sustained contact, along with other factors. Oklahoma recently rejected a plan that would have required social distancing and allowed all high school sports to resume without restrictions. One idea being considered by many states would change the calendar to shift lower risk sports to fall and move higher risk ones to the spring.
