4Warn Weather – FROST ADVISORY: Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac, and St. Clair Counties from 10:00 PM Thursday Night through 8:00 AM Friday Morning
FREEZE WATCH: All of Southeastern Michigan from 12:00 AM until 9:00 AM Saturday Morning.
Temperatures in the 30s tonight in our Northeastern Communities will give way to temperatures that could go below the freezing mark by Saturday morning, and that could lead to patchy frost in the advisory area on Friday Morning and the potential for another freeze by the time we get to Saturday morning. If you have plants outside, be sure to bring them in, and/or cover them up, as temperatures are potentially into the 30s the next few mornings.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy skies. A chance of rain showers South of M-59, patchy frost possible in our Northeastern Communities. Low: 36.
FRIDAY: Mix of sunshine and clouds, a chance of rain showers. Continued cool. High: 54.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies. A chance of a widespread freeze overnight. Continued cold. Low: 32.
SATURDAY: Mix of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures a little bit warmer. High: 52.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 33.
After a little bit of cloud cover and a little bit of sunshine, and a few scattered rain showers throughout the day on Thursday, we will keep the chance of a few rain showers in the forecast for some of us overnight tonight, while some of us could be waking up to some patchy frost early on Friday morning.
We’re going to watch an area of low pressure work south of the region overnight tonight, too early on Friday morning. This will bring the chance of a few rain showers late tonight into the overnight, along and south of M-59. North and east of Metro Detroit, a frost advisory is in effect overnight into early Friday morning, as temperatures will drop into the low to mid 30s by the time you wake up tomorrow morning.
Once that area of high pressure moves east of the region, a northwesterly flow will continue, bringing cooler air into the forecast for the next few days. This will also keep a few rain showers in the forecast for Friday afternoon and Friday evening. We will keep some cloud covering in the forecast and a little sunshine as well. High temperatures remaining well below average, into the middle 50s by Friday afternoon.
Any rain shower activity will wind down by late Friday evening, and we will see some breaks in the clouds overnight Friday night and early Saturday morning. Those breaks, along with the northwesterly flow, will continue to bring colder air into the region. This will allow overnight lows by Saturday morning to drop to near or below the freezing mark. With that in mind, a freeze watch is in effect for the entire region from 12:00 AM until 9:00 AM on Saturday morning.
We will keep an extra of sunshine and clouds in the forecast looking ahead throughout the weekend. The colder temperatures remain to start the weekend on Saturday, as high temperatures will only warm to the low 50s by Saturday afternoon. Then, we’ll tack on around 10° by the time we get to the end of the weekend on Sunday, with high temperatures warming into the lower 60s by Sunday afternoon.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms, rolling into the forecast late Sunday night and continuing into the start of next week on Monday. High temperatures are going above average by Monday afternoon, warming into the upper 60s to near 70°. We will keep the chance of rain showers in the forecast, looking ahead into the middle of next week. After a cold front moves through the region, we are expecting another dipping temperatures. The 60s are in the forecast through Wednesday, and will drop into the lower 50s by the time we get to Thursday afternoon, with yet another round of colder air that looks to move into the region.
