After a very hot and humid day working throughout our Thursday, we’ve got one more day of heat and humidity on the way as we look ahead into the end of the week on Friday.
The National Weather Service has extended the Extreme Heat Warning for most of the region, except Sanilac County, which is under a Heat Advisory through 8:00 PM Friday Evening. While majority of the day on Friday is dry, high temperature temperatures will sore back into the 90s again, and once you factor in the humidity, we are expecting heat index values to go above 100° for most of the region.
We’re also watching our frontal boundaries sink south into the region as we had throughout the day, this will trigger chances for showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and Friday evening. With all the heat and humidity around, some of those thunderstorms could be strong to possibly severe.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas along in south of I-696 under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather, areas north of I-696, are under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather. Damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall will all be possible with thunderstorms as we work throughout the end of the week.
I do think we get a break from the thunderstorm activity overnight Friday night early on Saturday morning. And while we see a mixture of sunshine and clouds to start the weekend on Saturday, we will keep the chance of some scattered thunderstorms under the forecast Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. High temperatures will cool down a bit to start the weekend, expect high temperatures to warm into the upper 80s by Saturday afternoon.
We will keep the chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms under the forecast to end the weekend on Sunday, but the day will not be a complete washout. High temperatures remaining in the mid upper 80s by the end of the weekend.
High-pressure builds back into the forecast, looking ahead into the start of next week, so another dry stretch will move into the region. Mostly sunny skies can be expected, with high temperatures in the mid 80s Monday and Tuesday.
