Hospitals treat multiple injuries

DETROIT – Metro Detroit hospitals treated numerous snow- and weather-related injuries after Monday’s snowstorm.

According to Beaumont, one person died from a heart attack they had while shoveling snow. Other patients had strained chests and heart attacks related to shoveling.

The hospitals also treated injuries related to slip and falls and vehicle crashes. A homeless man was also treated for frostbite. He was the only case of frostbite treated at Beaumont’s Canton, Dearborn, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Taylor, Trenton, Troy, Royal Oak and Wayne facilities.

The Detroit Medical Center also reported a fatal heart attack related to weather, as well as fractures from slip and fall accidents and a case of hypothermia.
