DETROIT – Cameras captured video of a man waiting for a woman to walk out of a Detroit gas station so he could follow her to her car and rob her at gunpoint.

The armed robbery happened around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 18600 block of Plymouth Street on the city’s west side, Detroit police said.

A man can be seen standing outside the door to the gas station. When the woman walks out and heads toward her car, he follows behind her and pulls out a handgun, surveillance video shows.

Police said the man demanded everything the woman had. HE went through her pockets, taking money and a cellphone, according to officials.

Authorities said the man fled in an unknown direction. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored zip-up jacket with a hood, dark jeans and sandals.

Detroit police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the man. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Precinct at 313-596-5640 or Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP to remain anonymous.
