Cannabis connoisseurs celebrate April 20 as an unofficial holiday

Consuming cannabis has come a long way. From smoking a bowl to infused tea, there are many different ways to get elevated.

Metro Detroit has a long history with the psychoactive drug -- from Hash Bash to Green Mile, the idea of marijuana usage is everywhere.

According to the CDC, 48.2 million people have used marijuana at least once in 2019.

Below are a few local businesses giving consumers a whole new experience with the plant:

The Copper House Detroit

This bud and breakfast gives guests a whole new experience compared to what bed and breakfasts are usually all about. The 1932 house is located on Detroit’s northwest side. The bud and breakfast site states that the homeowners aim to create experiences for their guests. From massage therapists to booking a budtender, the options at this overnight spot are endless.

Hot Box Social Lounge

A consumption lounge that recently opened up in Hazel Park, Hot Box Social allows visitors to bring their own cannabis and legally smoke at their leisure. The lounge off of John R Road’s mission is to provide a “safe and supportive environment” for guests.

Little Saints LLC

Opening during the pandemic, this Detroit-based company sells nano CBD mocktails. Megan Klein, the founder of Little Saints, writes on the plant-based company’s website that she is passionate about using clean ingredients to improve the way people feel.

Klein writes, “This is not a ‘get sober or get left behind’ kind of company. We exist to give you options to enhance your life whenever you need it.” The company offers non-alcoholic flavors such as Espresso Martini, Old Fashioned, Ginger Mule and Paloma.

Mother of Green

From body butter to roll-on relief, this local business mission is to normalize cannabis among women in a holistic way. The online shop gives customers plenty of options with scents. With products starting at $14, Mother of Green gives its customers an affordable option to holistically heal their bodies.

ElevatedYogi

Some people consider smoking cannabis relaxing. This yoga studio in the Rivertown Warehouse District allows you to utilize the psychoactive drug and the practice of Hatha to get the ultimate experience. The yoga studio also hosts events for yogis to learn more about the psychedelic world and what it has to offer.
