DETROIT – As Alex Trebek’s final episodes of “Jeopardy!” air all this week we are taking a look back on the career that made him a true television icon.

With more than 9,000 shows recorded, Trebek had plenty of memorable moments over the decades.

For those unfamiliar with “Jeopardy!,” Trebek presented himself as scholarly, serious, reserved -- all business, but he was really a down-to-earth person who had a bit of a wacky sense of humor.

There were a few unexpected events over the years on “Jeopardy!” -- even a handful of wedding proposals.

Even at age 80 and in stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Trebek brought optimism to the show ever day.
