NILES, MI - Police in southwestern Michigan are looking for assistance in catching a purse snatcher. The Niles Police Department stated that a purse snatching occurred in the city at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Thursday, April 14. According to police, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse strap and this action caused the victim to be thrown to the ground. The suspect then jumped off of his bike and attempted to jerk the purse from the victim’s arm multiple times, police said. The 80-year-old female victim suffered aggravated injuries and was transported to Spectrum Lakeland Niles for treatment.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Broadway Grand Rapids has unveiled its 2022-23 season for DeVos Performance Hall, kicking off in October with “Tootsie,” the musical adaptation of the hit 1982 Dustin Hoffman comedy. The new season has something for everyone – musical comedy, haunting love stories, epic journeys and thrilling magic. Broadway Grand Rapids, located at 122 Lyon Street NW, says current season ticket holders have until Thursday, May 12 to renew season tickets for 2022-23. Season ticket holders who renew into the 2023-24 season will receive priority access. Due to revised CDC guidance and Kent County risk levels of COVID-19, new protocols are in place for attending Broadway Grand Rapids events.

DETROIT - Broadway in Detroit has just cancelled opening night of “Beautiful - The Carole King Musical.” The production is experiencing travel delays because of the winter storm out east. Tonight’s January 4th performance won’t be rescheduled and Ticketholders will be contacted to see if they want to exchange their tickets for another performance. The remaining seven performances at Detroit’s Fisher Theater are scheduled to go on as planned from Wednesday, January 5th through Sunday, January 9th. The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical is about the early life and career of the singer/songwriter, who wrote a number of big hits for other artists before writing hit songs for herself. Tickets, which are still available, start at $39 (includes facility and parking fees), can be purchased here via Ticketmaster or in person at the Fisher Theatre Box Office.
