A military aircraft is expected to land on a U.P. highway this summer for a training event, WLUC reports. Few details have been released but a similar exercise was successfully completed in the Alpena area during summer 2021, the report said. M-28 is an east-west highway running the length of the Upper Peninsula; the exact location of the exercise has not been released. The exercise, believed to be the first time modern military aircraft have been landed on a U.S. civilian roadway, was part of the annual Northern Strike war-readiness training exercise hosted by the Michigan National Guard.
