That’s exactly what Caledonia (12-1) will attempt to do today, as they take on defending champions Belleville in the Division 1 high school football state championship game at 1 p.m. from Ford Field in Detroit. NOVI, MI – Belleville’s Tigers are headed to Ford Field again after emerging victorious in overtime. Reigning state champions Belleville defeated perennial rival Cass Tech 29-28 Friday night at Novi High School advance to the state final. The undefeated Tigers will head to Ford Field next Saturday, November 26th to face the winner of this Saturday’s Caledonia vs. Clarkston matchup. A sophomore quarterback for Belleville, Underwood is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound talent who holds a five-star rating. He has led a Belleville offense that has been virtually unstoppable ever since he began starting as a freshman and led the Tigers to a state title last season.

Neither team scored in the first half of the game, but Western Michigan Christian scored in the latter part of the second half, rounding the game out with a final score of 1-0. Evan Bates and Madison Chock have enjoyed a great deal of success as ice dance partners and that continued during the Winter Olympics in Beijing on Sunday. Bates, an Ann Arbor native and Chock, who attended Novi High School, won the free dance portion of the figure skating team event to help Team USA win the silver medal, giving the tandem the first Olympic medals of their respective careers. Bates and Chock’s performance helped Team USA earn the silver medal after it won bronze in 2014 and 2018. Bates a graduate of Ann Arbor Huron, became the first U.S. skater of any discipline to compete in four Winter Olympics. The Russia Olympic Committee took home the gold medal with 74 points, followed by Team USA with 65 points and Japan, which claimed the bronze with 63 points.

Novi played Livonia Stevenson Saturday in the regional final -- a game that ended in an overtime win for the Wildcats. (CBS DETROIT) – In person classes here at Novi High School just started a little over a week ago, but now the remainder of this week will be virtual only, due to five students testing positive for Covid-19. Students were not permitted entry to Novi High School Thursday, after the school shut down their in-person instruction. “We have five students at Novi High School who have tested positive for Covid-19,” said Novi School District Superintendent Steve Matthews. Matthews says due to those positive cases, the school was forced to shut down Thursday and Friday. The superintendent says those five students that tested positive will remain in quarantine for the next two weeks before returning to school.

NOVI, Mich. – All students at Novi High School will be taught virtually on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 17-18) after five students at the school tested positive for COVID-19, according to the district. “Novi High School teachers will be in contact with students to ensure that they understand what to do on Thursday and Friday,” reads a statement from district Superintendent Dr. Steve Matthews. To err on the side of caution, we need Novi High School students to be home Thursday and Friday.”Novi High School will follow the regular bell schedule, 7:15 a.m. to 1:59 p.m., on Thursday and Friday. The district advises both “A” day and “B” day hybrid students should log in Thursday to Zooms/Schoology. Regular virtual students continue to be virtual learners.

There were supposed to be high school sports, there was supposed to be a Division 1 State Tournament for girls soccer and Novi High School was supposed to defend its title. The Novi High School Girls Varsity team was on a roll, winning the 2018 state title over Grand Blanc and was undefeated the next year, winning the second straight title over Plymouth. SPOTLIGHT: Special needs students now have their own basketball tournament
The first of its kind in Michigan, a 10-team basketball tournament for special needs high school students was held at Novi High School this past Friday. 4Frenzy - KLAA Unified Basketball Tournament at Novi High SchoolThis joint effort makes the Unified basketball games just as thrilling and rewarding for the players as it is at a varsity high school basketball tournament. There are winners (congratulations to Brighton High School’s Unified team for winning the tournament!) In fact, this past Saturday the Oakland Activities Association had their own version of a unified basketball event for the first time. This Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) Unified Tournament was begun last year in conjunction with MHSAA and Special Olympics Michigan.

Kids can learn about Japanese culture through art, music and other family fun activities at the Novi Japan Festival on Oct. 6, 2019 at Novi High School. The island nation has brought an array of beautiful and unique music and artwork, delicious seafood and much more to the world beyond the Pacific and you can experience it all at the Novi Japan Festival on Oct. 6, 2019.
