The new Space Force does the training and the Space Command does the deploying when it gets more fully developed. That’s why Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor raised his hand and filed his paperwork Tuesday. “Aside from the 1,400-1,500 jobs that I’ve heard it would employ at the headquarters, it would be huge accomplishment for the city of Sterling Heights,” Taylor said.

Reward offered for information after lasers pointed at helicopters from Selfridge in Macomb County
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A reward for information is offered after lasers were pointed at two Selfridge-based helicopters while they were flying in St. Clair County and Macomb County. The crews of both helicopters safely landed at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coast Guard Investigative Service’s CGIS TIPS app, available free on Apple’s app store and Google Play. Officials are also seeking information about a laser that was pointed at a Coast Guard helicopter in Chesterfield Township on March 17. Officials noted that if a Coast Guard helicopter is on a rescue mission and a member of the aircrew is compromised by lasers, the mission must be aborted.
Selfridge Air National Guard Base will not get F-35 planes
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County will not receive F-35 planes that President Donald Trump said he was considering sending there. Wisconsin will receive the planes. Macomb County has been trying to get F-35s to the base for years. A campaign was launched in 2017, but the federal government decided to send the planes somewhere else. Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice S. Miller released a statement about the decision to not select Selfridge:“We are disappointed at the news that Selfridge Air National Guard Base was not selected as an F-35 base.
