Section of U.S. 23 overpass removed after being struck by excavator on trailer
4 Section missing from Warren Road bridge over US-23 near Ann ArborANN ARBOR, MI -- An overpass over U.S. 23 is temporarily closed because of damage caused by a too-tall load on a trailer. The Michigan Department of Transportation had to remove a section of the bridge over the weekend due to damage caused by a vehicle pulling a trailer that exceeded the overpass height limit. In the early afternoon of Feb. 11, a vehicle towing a construction excavator struck the Warren Road overpass over U.S. 23 northbound. Although U.S. 23 northbound reopened early on Sunday, the bridge itself was removed. It is unlikely the driver had proper transportation permitting, otherwise they would have been told to avoid the bridge, Jenkins said.
