Harvick holds off Hamlin for Michigan doubleheader sweep
BROOKLYN, Mich. Kevin Harvick won just about everything he could in a stellar weekend at Michigan International Speedway, although fittingly, Denny Hamlin was the last driver to pressure him. Harvick held off Hamlin on Sunday to complete a doubleheader sweep in the NASCAR Cup Series. With NASCAR running an adjusted schedule because of the coronavirus, both Michigan races were held on the same weekend. That meant Harvick became the first driver since Richard Petty in 1971 to win back-to-back Cup races on consecutive days. Its been a long time since Ive raced back-to-back days, let alone in the Cup car, Harvick said.
NASCAR docks 20 points from Newman, Buescher for violations
BROOKLYN, Mich. NASCAR has docked Ryan Newman and Chris Buescher 20 points each and confiscated their spoilers prior to Saturday's race at Michigan International Speedway. NASCAR said the two violated a rule stating that except as specified, spoilers must be used exactly as supplied from the manufacturer. Each car is also being sent to the rear for the start of the race. Other penalties include a loss of 20 owner points and a $25,000 fine. Newman and Buescher are both without a victory this year, and both were outside the top 20 in points even before these penalties.
Racecar driver with autism set to make history at Michigan International Speedway

For the first time, he will race in his home state at Michigan International Speedway in the Arca Menards Series. Williams is the first openly diagnosed NASCAR driver with autism and hes become an inspiration for others with autism and their families. Never let autism back them down from their dreams, Williams said.
Martinsville Speedway boss loses Sugar Bowl bet
MARTINSVILLE, Va. โ Tuesday night's down-to-the-wire Sugar Bowl victory for the University Michigan was quite sweet for Michigan International Speedway president Roger Curtis, but a bit sour for Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell. The game was a nail-biter to the very end, and while I'm obviously pleased Michigan won, it was a thrilling game for fans of both teams." The bet was simple: if the Hokies won, Curtis would have travelled to Martinsville to serve the Famous Martinsville Speedway Hotdogยฎ to media. If Michigan won, Campbell would visit MIS to serve the Coney Dogs to the press. Founded in 1947 by the late H.Clay Earles, Martinsville Speedway is the only track remaining on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit that hosted an event in the series' inaugural year, 1949.
