Detroit man charged in fatal stabbing of homeless woman

DETROIT – A Detroit man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a homeless woman.

Detroit police were called around 9:15 a.m. Monday (April 18) for a well-being check at a home in the 9020 block of North Martindale Street, they said.

When they arrived, officers found Lizabeth Lambie, 50, unresponsive, with a stab wound to her chest, according to authorities. Medical officials pronounced her dead at the scene.

Pete Jason Lockett, 40, of Detroit, is accused of stabbing Lambie on April 15, fatally injuring her, police said. He is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Lockett was arraigned Wednesday in 36th District Court and remanded to jail.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for April 17, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for May 3.
